Body Plan:
(honorsbiologyp7)
- A body plan is basically the way an organisms body is laid out and can be referred to as symmetry
- As time goes on, the body plan of an organism can change to fit the needs of that environment or time so that the organism can survive
- There are 35 basic body plans for all phyla.
- The phylum Reptilia has the same basic body plan and pattern as humans do, their organs being in the same place
- The brain, heart, and lungs are typically in the front half of their bodies
- their other vital organs in the middle of their body and the intestines and the end of the waste tract, and the reproductive organs are in the lower half of their bodies
- Although their kidneys are not like ours, being in the middle of our bodies, theirs are in the lower part

Symmetry:
(honorsbiologyp7)
- "Symmetry is the quality of being made up of exactly similar parts facing each other or around an axis"
- There are many types of symmetry but Reptiles usually are bilaterally symmetric
- This means that an organism can be divided in to two halves that roughly mirror each other around one plane
